Speaking

Since retiring from my Chair in the Department of Celtic and Scottish Studies at the The University of Edinburgh, I’ve found myself increasingly involved in presenting, lecturing and speaking at a wide range of events across Scotland and beyond. Over many years in academia, I delivered lectures and seminars to audiences of all kinds, and I continue to enjoy sharing ideas, stories and conversation in many different settings and formats. My work now ranges from whisky tastings and book events to talks on Scottish culture, history and music, as well as hosting piping concerts, competitions and Highland Games. I’m particularly interested in making specialist subjects accessible, enjoyable and engaging, whether speaking to lifelong enthusiasts or complete newcomers.

If you’d like to discuss a speaking engagement, please feel free to get in touch!
